Bring your court papers :- If there is already a case filed in court, then please - bring your legal papers. We will see you without them, of course, but bringing your papers can save a lot of time and expense. Clients frequently ask us about the meaning of documents that we cannot examine. To express an opinion, we will need the information.
Purpose of a first interview :- Our intention is to become acquainted with our clients, understand what problem needs to be solved, and identify the information and resources required to resolve their matter. Complex matters cannot ordinarily be resolved at the first meeting.
Identify the questions :- Clients who bring written questions often leave their first interview with better answers. If you write down your questions in advance, then you will remember to ask them.
Sources of Information :- Be prepared to answer questions about whatever information, data, or documents that are available, and about information that could obtained elsewhere during the progression of your case.
Certain materials in Child Support Cases :- If there is an issue relating to child support or spousal support (alimony), then it is helpful to bring a copy of your last court order for custody and visitation, your Tax Returns, Pay stubs, or other information that is necessary to prove income for yourself and the other parent.
Community and Separate Property :- If you want our opinion about Community and Separate Property issues, then it is helpful to make a list of all property that the court might be asked to evaluate. It is helpful to know when such property was acquired, and what loans or mortgages may exist.
